With culinary demonstrations, panel discussions and over 200 suppliers showcasing more than 1,000 products, the show is an opportunity for members of the foodservice industry to prepare for 2019 and beyond.
Event organiser Fresh Montgomery has released some details on what to expect:
New product developments
Visitors will have the chance to see and taste new products before they’re shared with the wider market. Watch out for new innovations from Ferrero UK, cold brew coffee from Fine Food International, and Kitchen and Restaurant Projects Ltd’s Thermodyne 3000G – clever technology allowing operators to gently cook and hold foods overnight, which then holds at the perfect temperature for service.
The Spotlight Stage
A host of famous industry faces will discuss topics ranging from food trends impacting operators and suppliers, to tackling staff turnover, and the future of street food.
Speakers include Rakesh Nair (head chef, Cinnamon Club), Glynn Purnell (head chef and proprietor, Purnell’s), Jack Brabant (co-founder, Digbeth Dining Club), and Tony Sophoclides (strategic affairs director, UK Hospitality).
Salon Culinaire
Up-and-coming chefs will have the chance to battle it out in the Salon Culinaire, showcasing new techniques and skills.
Within Salon Culinaire is The Skills Theatre in partnership with Santa Maria, designed to teach young chefs and encourage them to compete in cold live competitions. A series of culinary masterclasses will be led by Ruth Hansom (The first female winner of Young National Chef of the Year) and Leo Kattou (Simpson’s Restaurant, BCF Chef of the Year finalist and of MasterChef fame).
The Live Theatre in partnership with Compass will also be hosting different specialist challenges. Chefs will go head to head in competitions such as The Dolmio & Uncle Ben’s Foodservice Student Catering Challenge, The Nutella Challenge, and The Major Series Final 2019 in association with The Craft Guild of Chefs.
The Covered Market
A new feature for 2019, The Covered Market will celebrate small, artisanal suppliers. The market hall will be lined with fresh baked goods, dairy, fish, butchery, vegetables, herbs, spices and pulses.
Suppliers will include seafood company The Stickleback Fish Company Ltd, World Cheese Awards champion White Lake, and working organic farm Lower Hurst Organic.
Kitchenology in partnership with CESA
Get a glimpse at the kitchen of the future with this showcase of smart technology from the likes of Hoshiziaki UK, Rational, Falcon and Winterhalter. An excellent opportunity to learn how new technologies will transform sustainability and business efficiency.
