Two Michelin-star seafood specialist Nathan Outlaw is to open a brasserie-style restaurant at The Goring hotel in Belgravia in late spring next year.

It was reported earlier this month that the largely Cornwall-based chef’s partnership with the Capital hotel in Knightsbridge is to end in March.

Outlaw’s at The Capital launched in 2012. It won a Michelin star soon after opening but lost it in the 2019 edition of the guide.

The loss of the accolade coincided with the departure of head chef and Outlaw protégé Tom Brown, who left to open Cornerstone in Hackney Wick.

The as-yet unnamed restaurant will sit alongside the hotel’s flagship restaurant The Dining Room - which holds a Michelin star - and will serve “create simple seafood dishes of understated brilliance, that showcase the best of Cornish seafood and produce”.

“Some of the best seafood in the world comes from the pristine waters around Cornwall” says CEO Jeremy Goring. “We’re looking forward to bringing this West Country treasure to London, with the help of Nathan Outlaw, who has been a friend of the Goring family’s extensive Cornish branch for many years.”

With views over The Goring’s garden, the restaurant will be housed in an orangery and its design will be overseen by Russell Sage.

“We’re building an eccentric, uplifting space with the help of some very special craftsmen and designers, and the restaurant will be all about simplicity on the plate, freshness, and our usual heartfelt British service,” continues Goring.

“Creating a new restaurant with such an iconic British hotel is a huge highlight in my career. I can’t wait to get cooking,” says Outlaw, whose restaurant empire includes the two Michelin-star Restaurant Nathan Outlaw and one Michelin-star Outlaw’s Fish Kitchen in Port Isaac, Cornwall, and Nathan Outlaw at Al Mahara in Dubai.
