KoolCha club: Rohit Ghai heads to Boxpark Wembley

KoolCha is described as an Indian comfort food concept that as the name suggests majors in filled kulcha, a north Indian flat bread that’s usually made with maida flour and yogurt.

These will be served alongside pickles, dal, raitas and chutneys and a small selection of supporting dishes from Ghai’s “secret family recipes”.

KoolCha will also serve hot and cold fruit iced teas, cocktails and Indian beers.

A final list of traders was confirmed for Boxpark Wembley earlier this week​​​, so presumably KoolCha is a last-minute addition to the line up. 

Ghai and Sangwan have held senior roles at some of London’s most influential Indian restaurants, including Benares, Gymkhana and Jamavar. They recently struck out on their own to open Kutir in the site that was once home to Vineet Bhatia’s VBL.​​​

“I have had the great fortune to work with Abhishake Sangwan over the last decade and we both felt we were ready for the next challenge,” says Ghai. “KoolCha will be a new Pan-Indian restaurant concept that promises to reinvigorate the Indian food space. We are excited to launch KoolCha at Boxpark Wembley which will provide a great platform for our brainchild concept to flourish as part of London’s most exciting casual dining community.”

KoolCha will trade alongside the likes of The Athenian, Zia Lucia, Ugly Dumpling and Thai Express.

Boxpark Wembley opens 8 December.
