Growing quick: Mowgli

Seven branded restaurant chains have made the Fast Track 100, an annual league table that ranks Britain’s fastest growing private companies.

Indian brand Mowgli is the highest up the list at number 17 with an annual sales rise over three years of 106.05%.

Nisha Katona’s six-strong street food-inspired chain was followed by steak chain Flat Iron (75.05%), burger chain Five Guys (72.38%), antipodean chain Daisy Green (66.49%), pizza chain Homeslice (56.65%), burger chain Honest Burgers (47.76%) and Thai chain Giggling Squid (45.77%).

The sector has fared better than last year when just four restaurant groups made the list (although Five Guys made the top 10 with an impressive 129% sales rise).

2018 was also a good year for pub groups and brewers with the list including microbrewery and pub operator Brewhouse & Kitchen, pub operator Urban Pubs & Bars and brewer and bar operator Brewdog.

Other hospitality-related businesses to place on the list include retail leisure developer Boxpark and hotel developer and operator Ennismore, which has a portfolio that includes Breddos Tacos, Tandoor Chophouse and Gleneagles Hotel.
