Tamarind Mayfair to reopen in December after eight-month revamp
The site, which became the first Indian restaurant in the UK to win a Michelin star in 2001, temporarily shut its doors earlier this year.
Tamarind has since undergone a major revamp, which has doubled its capacity to 152 covers.
It will relaunch next month with a ‘fresh new concept’ under executive head chefs Karunesh Khanna and Manav Tuli.
Khanna was head chef at London’s Michelin-starred Amaya for 13 years, while Tuli lead the kitchen at Chutney Mary in St James’.
The pair say their menu will offer lighter dishes cooked in a new open kitchen, including pistachio-crusted grilled lamb chops; and butternut squash kayle seekh.
Tamarind's long-time executive chef Peter Joseph left the business earlier this year to open his first solo restaurant, Kahani, in Chelsea.
Tamarind Mayfair restaurant lost its Michelin star in the 2019 edition of the Michelin Guide Great Britain and Ireland, though this was due to its brief closure.
