The concept first popped-up above the Shaftesbury Avenue venue in 2016, before relocating to Waterloo.
Now it’s back in Soho, but this time two restaurants are switching places. Shuang Shuang is currently closed, but will relaunch in the refurbished upstairs space next month.
Yamagoya is taking over the downstairs spot, which is being revamped with a pale wood design and hung with paper lanterns.
The ramen group was founded by Masatoshi Ogatahas in Fukuoka, Japan in 1969, and now has several sites across Asia.
Ogatahas has created new dishes for the London opening, including a roast beef ramen made with leek and spring onion; and vegan kakiage curry rice with fried vegetables and pickled greens.
There’ll also be small bites such as fried pork gyoza; chicken karaage with yuzu mayo; and the Instagram-famous raindrop cake, a transparent sweet that turns to liquid in the mouth, for dessert.
Diners will be able to order ramen to grab and go, or sit at stools by the window or overlooking the kitchen.
“Soho is the perfect spot for Yamagoya and I’m proud that it has come such a long way from the humble start in Fukuoka to the heart of London,” says Masatoshi.
Yamagoya will open on 15 December.
