River restaurant pioneer Bateaux will relaunch two classic boats over the coming months, reinventing them as dining destinations with menus designed by the former Flavour Bastard head chef.

Moored at the Victoria Embankment, the two boats – previously named Symphony and Harmony – will relaunch as the Glass Room and the River Room, with completion expected for November 2018 and Easter 2019 respectively.

The kitchen operation will be headed up by chef Jose Cacciavillani, who is currently Flavour Bastard’s head chef despite the fact that the restaurant has been closed for refurbishment since August and has not posted on Instagram since July.

Cacciavillani, who has also worked at Battersea restaurant Santa Maria del Sur and Casa Malevo in central London, will take the helm for the Glass Room's food operations in November.

The 235-cover Glass Room, with interiors by Tom Dixon’s Design Research Studio, will serve modern British lunch and dinner menus, and afternoon tea options will also be available.  A private dining room can be hired, as can the entire boat which can be used for private charter.

The River Room will launch in Spring 2019 to coincide with the launch of the bar and café that will open at The Moor Room pier. The River Room, which will be better suited to private hire, will offer a schedule of immersive dining experiences and masterclasses.

“Bateaux spearheaded dining on the Thames over 25 years ago and we are so excited to be yet again leading the way with a new, elevated offering,” says Catrin White, marketing director at Bateaux’s parent company Sodexo Prestige Venues & Events.

“Our aim is to bring a truly unique food-led experience to the Thames, not just a destination restaurant, but a complete onboard package complemented by outstanding design, impeccable service and a quality food offering not to mention striking views.’’
