Soho House and Chiltern Firehouse chefs to launch two restaurants at Stratford hotel
The Stratford will open as part of the Manhattan Loft Gardens development that Handelsman has been working on since 2016. It will sit alongside loft apartments and three sky gardens.
The two restaurants inside the hotel will offer two distinct styles of cuisine.
Allegra, the hotel’s destination restaurant, will be headed up by Patrick Powell, former head chef at another of Handelsman’s projects, Chiltern Firehouse. The restaurant will sit on the seventh floor of the hotel, and will serve a seasonal menu of modern European cuisine. It will have doors opening out onto one of the development’s sky gardens.
The ground floor will house the Stratford Brasserie, which will have former Soho House chef Ben Harrington at its helm. A more casual affair, the brasserie will have an open kitchen and bar, and will serve a menu of dishes including Roman-style pizzettas.
A mezzanine level will house the Manhattan Club, which will serve juice and coffee during the day, and cocktails at night.
Designed by Scandinavian interior designers Space Copenhagen, rooms at The Stratford range from £132 per night for a standard room to £520 for a Manhattan Studio.
Handelsman acquired the site for the development in 2009, before the Westfield shopping centre was built. The entire 42-storey project has cost around £300m, according to Wallpaper magazine.
