The team behind north London pubs The Clifton NW8 and The Horseshoe will relaunch Hampstead pub The Duke of Hamilton next month.

Brothers Ben and Ed Robson, alongside business partner Adam Gostyn, are working with a number of investors on the opening, including Andy Fletcher from the band Depeche Mode.

When the 17th century pub reopens on 1 November, it will retain the jazz club that operates on its lowest storey. The Hampstead Jazz Club will reopen offering space for live recording, rehearsals, workshops and event launches. It will be run by Lateralize Ltd, which has part ownership of the pub.

The Duke of Hamilton will serve a menu of classic pub dishes and bar snacks including some items that have migrated from the menu at The Clifton NW8. Sunday roasts, Saturday brunches and child-friendly menus will be available, and the pub’s menu will also be served at the jazz club.

The bar will offer craft and local beers, including a brew that will be exclusive to the pub.

"Bringing such an iconic pub back to life is a dream come true Growing up in Hampstead we were given so many great opportunities, so we're delighted to be able to give something back to the community,” say the new owners of the pub.

“We're working hard to make sure we provide locals and visitors with the perfect pub that anyone can come to at any time – great food, amazing drinks and a friendly atmosphere."

The team take over the pub from former landlord and ex-manager of boyband Blue Steve Coxshall, who made headlines in 2015 when he banned 800 customers from the venue, calling them “hypocrites in cardigans who only drink half pints”.
