The 150-cover site comprises a bar; a dining area; a lounge area; and a beer garden.
The venue, formerly owned by Pasquale Chionchio and Angelo Ambrosio who have partnered with Firezza founder Edin Basic, will continue to serve pizzas while the pub undergoes refurbishment.
From November onwards, the pub will host live jazz and acoustic singers.
Formerly a Fuller’s pub, the new owner says that he hopes to increase the venue’s popularity.
“I hope to keep the original pub feeling but with a different service style and a classic look, with staff in white shirts and ties and cocktails, wine by the glass and craft beers,” says Basic.
Basic founded Firezza in 2001, and it was acquired by PizzaExpress in February 2016.
The first Santa Maria Pizzeria opened in Ealing in west London in February 2010 to great acclaim, followed by a bigger site in Fulham in May 2017.
When Santa Maria took over The Red Lion pub next door to its restaurant, it served an Italian themed pub menu.
