Simon Anderson's Market Halls to launch second site this autumn

Originally billed to launch in the summer, Market Halls Victoria will open in Terminus Place – the site of former night club Pacha – in early November.

The three-storey site will comprise 11 food vendors, which are yet to be announced, with individual kitchens; three bars; a coffee shop; and a roof terrace which is set to launch next spring.

The 400-cover site in which the development will launch was built in 1909, and has been refurbished by Market Halls architects FaulknerBrowns since being left derelict for a number of years.

Interiors by designers WDS have retained some of the original features of the site, such as historical shop fronts; ceiling moulds; and beams. Stained glass windows and an atrium roof are still in the process of being repaired.

“Victoria is a reinvigorated and dynamic district that is currently experiencing massive regeneration”, says founder and COO Anderson.

“The customer mix in Victoria is exciting and we expect it to change throughout the day and week. We’re anticipating a combination of local residents and workers during the daytime, with commuters figuring heavily before and after work”.

Anderson, who founded Pitt Cue Co., and property, leisure and retail investor Lewis-Pratt launched the ‘Market Halls’ brand to turn unused public spaces with “architectural or historic interest” into food halls and community hubs.

The first, in Fulham​​​, launched in spring, and the third – in the former BHS building on Oxford Street – is set to be the largest food hall in the UK​​​.

According to a spokesperson, the team is also eyeing a site in York​​​ for the brand’s regional debut.
