Carl Clarke and David Wolanksi are to open a third Chick ‘n’ Sours restaurant in London this month.

The duo are launching the concept on Islington’s Upper Street in a site originally earmarked for their spin-off venture CHIK’N.

But the team say they are “up for a challenge” and have decided to expand their flagship brand into the space, which features a 60-cover dining room, bar and open kitchen.

On the menu will be a raft of new dishes trialled at their revamped Haggerston site and month-long Brixton pop-up, including chicken toast with chilli fish sauce caramel; hot chicken and waffles; and PBJ French toast with coconut curd, dulche de leche and peanut butter.

Sides include new Shin Cup fries, featuring the Chick ‘n’ Sours version of the Shin Cup noodle seasoning covered with sricha sour cream, chillies and spring onions.

“We are so fortunate have had a strong debut in Haggerston and follow up in Seven Dials,” says Wolanksi.

“Hopefully our third restaurant will also be a hit & we don’t suffer from the dreaded third album syndrome!

“We’re excited to come into the area & integrate ourselves into the local community. There’s a lot of negativity surrounding Islington at the moment but there’s a new wave of independent & quality openings happening and hidden amongst the huge chains there are also some real gems that have stood the test of time.”

The duo told BigHospitality in April that they also hope to open another CHIK’N site this year.

Chick ‘n’ Sours Islington opens for soft launch 24-26 September for lunch and dinner. It will offer 50% off lunch on 27 September before officially opening for dinner.
