Neil Gill has launched a neighbourhood restaurant in Stroud Green in partnership with local resident Emma Rigby.

Billed as a “neighbourhood hub”, The Goods Office has opened at a site that was formerly part of the Stroud Green railway station. It is the second restaurant in the area for Gill, who launched Season Kitchen in the same neighbourhood in 2010.

“In short, we're a neighborhood hub, serving great coffee, craft booze and something delicious to eat all day,” says Gill.

“We've had our eye on the site for years. It was the Goods Office where all the parcels were received and distributed, and it's a permanent fixture.”

A breakfast menu includes the likes of fruit and granola; and baked eggs with the option of adding sage; smoked mackerel; and ham.

Brunch options include sweet potato hash and eggs; brioche with Chantilly cream and frosted berries; and steak and eggs.

The daytime menu comprises a selection of small plates including baba ghanoush with yoghurt and harissa; panzanella; cured mackerel with pickled gooseberries and samphire; calamari; buttermilk fried chicken with paprika mayonnaise; and pork belly with roasted apricot and fennel.

Accompanying sides include macaroni cheese; fries; and salad.

Gill closed his much-loved Finsbury Park restaurant Gilly’s Fry Bar earlier this year with plans to relocate it to central London.

When the restaurant reopens in the West End –a location and date for which has not yet been confirmed - Gill says he plans to “show even more people just what you can achieve with a deep fryer, obsessive attention to detail and a lot of love”.
