The team behind Soho’s Le Bab have revealed further details of their upcoming second site - which will feature a hidden fine dining restaurant.

Stephen Tozer and Ed Brunet, who opened Le Bab in 2015, will soft launch Maison Bab in Covent Garden from 17 September.

Tozer says the team hope to make it “one of the best kebab houses in the world” with “bolder” and “punchier” flavours than their first restaurant.

It will be collaboration with their former Le Gavroche colleague Manu Canales, who will serve a six-course tasting menu at the site’s “hidden” fine dining restaurant Kebab Queen when it opens later this year.

The main Maison Bab restaurant will be a more relaxed affair, with 75 covers spread across two floors.

The eight-strong kebab menu (all priced under £10) will include raclette shawarma; chicken shish; and miso celeriac shish with pickled crispy onions and toum.

There’ll be a bigger focus on vegan options overall, with all kebabs and flatbreads made in-house from scratch and served alongside cocktails, local craft beers and wines by the glass.

Fine dining restaurant Kebab Queen will be hidden downstairs behind the kitchen.

It will act as a “chef’s table” of sorts for Canales, with 10 guests seated around an open kitchen. The chef will serve a six-course kebab tasting menu at £55 per person - with an optional accompanying drinks flight.

“Maison Bab represents a completely new concept for us,” says Tozer.

“We love Le Bab, and wouldn’t change it for the world. But at Maison Bab we’ll be offering something punchier, bolder, and more surprising.

“We’ve been developing this concept for almost two years now, so we’re incredibly excited to unveil what we’ve been working on. Kebabs offer a huge breadth of culinary scope, and this restaurant will celebrate that diversity.”

Both restaurants will take reservations, while Maison Bab will offer delivery to the Covent Garden and Soho area.
