1847 vegetarian restaurant closes two sites
Damien Davenport, the founder of the 1847 vegetarian restaurant concept, has sold his Bristol and Birmingham sites.

BigHospitality's sister site MCA reports the Birmingham restaurant has been sold to chefs Tony Cridland and Adrian Luck who will keep it trading under the 1847 brand, while Bristol has been sold to a local restaurant operator.

Davenport will continue to trade his sole remaining site under the concept in Chapel Walks, Manchester, which opened last year after relocating from its original home, while operating a boutique hotel overseas.

He told MCA: “Both Birmingham and Bristol have been sold to new operators. Birmingham has been sold to my chefs and they are keeping it as 1847.

“Unfortunately no one internally at Bristol was in a position to buy and this has been purchased by another restaurant group.

“I will continue with 1847 Manchester plus I’ve other business interests overseas which are due to open in the coming months so I’ll be spending more time outside the UK.”

The 1847 site in Brighton closed year after failing to tap into the leisure market, with the site taken on by craft beer business Bison, who have reopened it is a bar.
