Former Murano chef Pip Lacey has confirmed she will open her debut solo restaurant project within trendy clothes retailer Wolf & Badger’s new location in King’s Cross.

Hicce X Wolf & Badger will be part of the area’s upcoming Coal Drops Yard development, which is also set to be home to Barrafina; Casa Pastor; The Drop;Alain Ducasse’s Le Chocola; and grilled cheese sandwich specialist Morty & Bob’s.

The restaurant will have 80 covers inside plus a further 35 outside and will offer all day dining from midday onwards. The project is a partnership between Lacey and long-time friend and business partner Gordy McIntyre and counts Angela Hartnett as a key backer.

Lacey cut her teeth in the kitchens of Gordon Ramsay Group and was most recently employed as head chef of Hartnett’s Michelin-starred Mayfair restaurant Murano. A solo project for Lacey was mooted back in July last year.

The kitchen will be focused on dishes created from a wood fired fuel source which will apparently include everything from smoking and grilling right through to steaming.

Menu details are limited, but the food offering will include homemade rye bread with seasonal cheese, cured meats and pickles and fish, meat and yakitori cooked over charcoal.

Pip also says she will use traditional techniques to create dishes inspired by her travels and driven by her commitment to the very best produce.

McIntyre will head up front of house and has created a concise wine list sourced from small batch, independent producers and featuring biodynamic and organic wines.

“To be part of a development like Coal Drops Yard is an incredible opportunity and to have a partnership with Wolf & Badger makes this move all the more special,” says Lacey. “Gordy and I have been working to open our own restaurant for many years so this is an absolute dream realised for me and I cannot wait to get into the kitchen.”
