Covent Garden’s all-avocado pop-up is reopening as a permanent restaurant a few streets away from its temporary Floral Street site.

Launching on Henrietta Street on 24 August, Avobar will offer an extended version of the menu it served at its pop-up earlier this year.

Dishes will include avocado-centric twists on classic breakfast dishes, such as mashed avocado on either sourdough bread or a slice of sweet potato ‘toast’, served with coconut labneh and beetroot hummus; and green shakshuka topped with avocado.

Lunch offerings will include salad and poke bowls which can be eaten in the restaurant or bought to grab’n’go; small plates; and the ‘Avo Bun Burger’ that garnered a lot of attention on social media when it appeared on the menu at the pop-up.

Desserts, all made with avocado as a base ingredient, will include cheesecake; brownies; and ice cream.

The drinks menu will comprise a selection of photogenic lattes such as beetroot and matcha; avocado-based smoothies; juices; and artisan coffee.

Interior design at the restaurant is inspired by the aesthetic of California. The walls will be painted in neutral tones, with avocado-coloured tiles and hanging foliage.

Avobar is one of the more casual operators to launch in Covent Garden this year, settling in alongside the likes of Kitty Fisher’s little sister Cora Pearl; Petersham Nurseries; Bancone; and Temper 3.
