Burger & Lobster to make a Shack attack in Camden

Burger & Lobster is launching a spin-off concept that will combine elements of its original brand with its more informal Smack Lobster format.

Shack by Burger & Lobster is set to open in London’s Camden in September and will be inspired by the restaurants of New England. It will serve a simplified menu consisting of Nebraskan beef burgers and lobster rolls alongside a selection of beers. Prices will start from under £10.

The group told BigHospitality’s sister publication MCA that it was already looking for further sites for Shack, both in the UK and internationally.

Owner Goodman Restaurants currently operates nine Burger & Lobsters across London, having consolidated its UK estate, as well as a collection of international sites. It also runs Smack Lobster on Soho’s Dean Street, which serves a range of lobster and shrimp rolls for takeaway.

The move follows the closure of a Zelman Meats restaurant in the capital last week, which is another of Goodman’s meat-led brands. Its restaurant in St. Paul’s operated for less than a year before it closed its doors.

Named after Goodman founder Micha Zelman, Zelman Meats serves a range of beef-based dishes, from salt beef sandwiches and brisket to chateaubriand sold by the 100g. Its Knightsbridge and Soho restaurants remain open.
