Australian-born Sutton spent the last three years overseeing the original Frenchie restaurant, wine bar and Frenchie To Go on Paris’ Rue du Nil as executive group sous chef.
It is understood Frenchie chef patron Greg Marchand is looking to bring the Paris wine bar concept to the UK.
The group is also thought to be planning a temporary pop-up in New York.
Sutton spent a year as junior sous chef at David Chang’s Momofuku Seiobo in Sydney prior to joining the Frenchie empire.
“Working with Greg and the rest of the Frenchie family in Paris has been an incredibly experience and I’m excited to continue this journey here in London,” says Sutton.
“The Frenchie brand is as international as they come, with influences in the offering from all over the world. At the core of the offering, however, there is of course that little spark of Parisian know-how. I’m excited to use my experience to bring a bit more of that to customers in London at Frenchie Covent Garden.”
Marchand was nicknamed ‘Frenchie’ by Jamie Oliver while working at the chef’s Fifteen restaurant in London, and used the name for his debut Paris restaurant and wine bar when it opened in 2009.
The chef returned to London to open the sister Covent Garden site in 2016, and it was ranked 91st at the Estrella Damm National Restaurant Awards this year.
