It follows the closure of the associated Cook School at the end of June, meaning Nairn no longer has a presence in the city.
Nick’s Pizza Bar launched in December 2016, but has closed with immediate effect and been placed in to voluntary liquidation.
Nairn said in a statement that the downturn in the oil and gas industry had hit the local economy and the restaurant was “no longer commercially viable” despite investing in marketing and extending the opening hours.
“I had always wanted to expand into Aberdeen and the business had years of success with a loyal customer base,” he said. “However, the downturn in the oil and gas industry hit the economy in the north east leaving people with less money to spend on eating out.
“It’s with regret that I’ve had to make the decision to close the business in Aberdeen where I have enjoyed having a presence.”
Nairn opened his first restaurant Braeval, near Aberfoyle in 1986, where he became the youngest Scottish chef to win a star in the early 1990's.
The chef still runs his flagship Cook School in the Port of Menteith, and his consultancy business has overseen The Kailyard restaurant at the Doubletree by Hilton Dunblane Hydro since 2010.
