The 'UK’s largest board game café' is coming to Shoreditch

It’s already home to a cafe that only serves cereal and soon Shoreditch will be the location for what is claimed to be the UK’s largest board game café.

Called Proceed Clockwise, 100-cover café is set to launch later this summer on London’s Bethnal Green Road just yards from quirky establishment Cereal Killer Cafe. Promising a library of hundreds of board games, available to play or to buy and take home, customers will be able to battle it out over Monopoly, Snakes and Ladders or possibly even Hungry Hippos as they eat and drink.

Details of the menu are yet to be revealed, but according to BigHospitality’s sister publication MCA the offer is likely to include craft beer, speciality coffee and pizza.

Proceed Clockwise is part of a growing trend for places that serve food and drink to also have a strong entertainment angle.

Flight Club, the social darts concept, is set to secure new funding as it looks to further expand its core brand. The group has lined up a regional launch on the former Burger & Lobster site in Manchester and a further London opening at the Nova development in Victoria. It is also in talks to take a site in Birmingham’s Temple Street for the darts and food concept.

The company also hopes to launch a shuffleboard concept, called Electric Shuffle, next year, with a site near London Bridge believed to be under consideration, says MCA.
