Stokey Bears doubles up

Street food operator Burger Bear is launching a second iteration of Stokey Bears, its bricks-and-mortar restaurant.

Launching in Haggerston on 2 July, the new site will offer its signature menu of burger and beers, as well as a new vegan many that is exclusive to the new restaurant.

The new site will be offering a brunch menu, comprising bacon and egg brioche buns and unlimited coffee.

Signature burgers on the all-day menu will include the ‘Grizzly Bear’ made with double oak-smoked bacon and bacon jam; the classic ‘Burger Bear’ cheese burger; and the ‘Angry Bear’ which is made with the Rib Man’s Holy F**K hot sauce.

Vegan options will include a crispy vegetable patty available in the same ‘Angry’, ‘Grizzly’ and ‘Triple Threat’ options as the meat version; a seitan ‘chicken’ burger; and a ‘Koala Bear’ burger made from spiced bean burger, avocado, salsa, lime and coriander coconut yoghurt.

A short list of side orders will include cheesy fries; chilli fries; angry fries; hot wings; mac ‘n’ cheese balls; coleslaw; and onion rings.

Stokey Bears is the brainchild of Tom Reaney, who founded street food outfit Burger Bear five years ago.

He launched his first standalone restaurant, Stokey Bears, in Stoke Newington in 2014, and has since launched the  500-cover Magic Roundabout on top of Old Street roundabout, which acts as a bar, as well as hosting street food residencies and events.
