Deliveroo rolls out POS integration with restaurants
The technology means online orders are automatically uploaded in to a restaurant’s sales system without needing to be manually input by staff.
Deliveroo says the software will reduce errors, free-up staff to focus on in-house diners, and cut order processing time from an average of 2.5 minutes to 30 seconds.
The company has created an application programming interface (API), which is available through its new developer portal, allowing POS companies and restaurants to test and manage their integration with Deliveroo’s order system over approximately two weeks.
A trial of the system has seen 25 POS companies use the API. Some 500 restaurants are using the integration, a figure expected to double by 2019.
“Our partners have told us that integrating with their sales systems is a key way for Deliveroo to help make delivery easier for them and that’s why we’ve invested in making this happen,” says Mike Hudack, chief technology officer at Deliveroo.
“Cutting out needless time inputting orders into sales systems allows front of staff to focus on delivering an amazing dine in experience while boosting revenues and orders through delivery.”
Last month rival delivery service UberEats made a similar move to integrate its orders more seamlessly in to restaurant systems by purchasing OrderTalk - which provides online ordering software and POS integration for 5,500 brands including Prezzo and PizzaExpress.
