The chef has signed a license agreement that saw his Bread Street Kitchen concept launch in the country at the end of April.
Originally set to open in late 2017, the 100+ cover restaurant serves a ‘British European’ menu with dishes from its London counterpart using produce imported from the UK.
It will be the fifth Bread Street Kitchen to open worldwide, following its debut in London in 2011 and subsequent launches in Dubai, Hong Kong and Singapore.
"I’m proud to be bringing a taste of Europe to guests at Atlantis Sanya, as part of the resort’s focus on quality, international dining,” says Ramsay.
“I can think of no better home for Bread Street Kitchen & Bar in China than Atlantis Sanya, and my team looks forward to welcoming diners to our new location.”
The Atlantis Sanya resort opened at the end of April and features 1,314 rooms, 154 suites and an ‘underwater’ restaurant and bar with floor-to-ceiling views of the Ambassador Lagoon – the world’s largest open-air aquarium.
Group changes
The new restaurant launch follows a series of departures from the Gordon Ramsay Group in the UK.
Chief executive Stuart Gillies is believed to have left his role earlier this year after filings show his position as a director was terminated in February.
Accounts filed on 15 May confirm director Geoff Eades – who was brought in to “resolve corporate issues” in 2010-13, departed on 30 January.
Larry Jayasekara, the head chef of Michelin-starred Petrus, also left the restaurant this year.
The accounts show profits at Gordon Ramsay Holdings International rose to £1.14m for the year ended 31 August 2017, up from £825,932 in the previous year.
