Chick'n'Sours founder Carl Clarke: "If Noma can go to Mexico, we can go to Brixton"
London fried chicken restaurant Chick ‘n’ Sours will launch a one month pop up in Brixton whilst its flagship Haggerston restaurant closes for a refurbishment.

Launching on 10 May, the pop up will open on the former site of Calcutta Street at 395 Coldharbour Lane.

The site will provide a restaurant space and a development kitchen, which diners can book tables for on the 17 and 31 May to watch founder Carl Clarke and Masterchef winner Ash Mair collaborate to create new Asian-inspired dishes for the menu.

The move comes as Clarke and co-owner David Wolanski look to bring their fast casual CHIK’N brand more in line with Chick ’n’ Sours.

When the group’s Haggerston restaurant reopens in six weeks time, it will include a late-night bar named Sub Culture that will double its covers from 35 to 65.

The menu will offer new dishes including kimchi pancakes with fried chicken and Chengdu buffalo sauce; Chongquin crispy rice sticks; Viet Cajun fried chicken; and the fondue-like fried chicken queso.

Dishes that are well received at the Brixton pop up will make their way onto the menu at the Haggerston restaurant, when it reopens in mid-June.

“If Noma can go to Mexico, we can go to Brixton!  We’ve always felt that Chick ‘n’ Sours would fit right in in this vibrant part of South London,” says Clarke.

“We’ve got some original Chick ‘n’ Sours classics on the menu, but the exciting bit will come in the form of these new creations (Made in Brixton menu).”
