The award, sponsored by Aubrey Allen, will be presented at this year’s Estrella Damm National Restaurant Awards, once again being held at The Hurlingham Club in London on 11 June.
The SRA has partnered with the National Restaurant Awards on this award since 2012, with the winner being decided on the findings of an online assessment of a restaurant within the top 100 ranking using the SRA’s Sustainability Rating. However, in a change from previous years, the award is now open to UK restaurants of all types, from chip shops and gastropubs to fine dining rooms.
For the chance to win the Sustainable Restaurant of the Year Award, entrants are required simply to tell the SRA in approximately 250 words about a sustainable initiative they have introduced in the past year and which fits with the SRA’s 10 key areas of innovation. These include responsible ingredient sourcing, supporting local farmers, feeding people well, valuing natural resources and reducing food waste.
Entries will be shortlisted with a winner being selected from a panel of judges from the SRA, Restaurant magazine and the restaurant industry.
