Bukowski Grill closes last London restaurant

Charcoal grill restaurant Bukowski Grill has closed the last of its four London sites.

The group has shut its flagship 70-cover Soho restaurant, which opened under franchise with Franco Manca and Real Greek owner Fulham Shore, after two years.

The all-day restaurant was the largest Bukowski Grill to-date when it launched in February 2016.

But in September last year Fulham Shore, which bought Franco Manca in 2015, announced plans to sell the site to focus on its core brands.

Bukowski Grill was founded by Robert Freeman, former head chef at Soho private member's club Black's, and Franco Manca founder Giuseppe Mascoli at Boxpark Shoreditch in 2011.

It went on to open locations at Brixton Market and Boxpark Croydon, but all the sites have closed over the past year.

Bukowski Grill's website has been taken down and now displays the message: “Thank you for your custom. Unfortunately Bukowski Grill is now permanently closed.”

BigHospitality’s sister site MCA has reported that Levantine concept Ceru has taken on the Soho site for its second permanent restaurant in London.
