Opening in the former Fulham Broadway ticket hall in May, the development will include nine kitchens, a deli, a coffee shop and bar, and a 200-cover dining area.
It will include new concepts from a number of established players including Indian chef Asma Khan and new wave Thai chef Seb Holmes, alongside ‘local heroes’ and street-food favourites.
Two more Market Halls are set to open in summer and autumn, turning more unused public spaces with “architectural or historic interest” into food halls.
After Fulham, the next opening will be in the arcaded bays opposite Victoria station on the site of former superclub Pacha in the summer. It will be followed by an autumn opening in the West End, in the former BHS building near Oxford Circus. Billed as being the largest food hall in the UK, it will house a host of local producers, retailers, restaurants and street food vendors as well as four bars, a demo kitchen and space for events.
The full line-up is as follows:
Calcutta Canteen - The second venture from Darjeeling Express founder Asma Khan, Calcutta Canteen will focus on authentic street food. Expect the likes of kati rolls; puchkas; lentil fritters; and chaat.
Hot Box - Founded in 2014 in Spitalfields, Hot Box specialises in smoked and barbecued meats. Dry rubbed and rotisserie smoked meats will be served alongside a selection of sides from various different styles of cuisine.
Ahi Poke - Inspired by California’s laid-back poke bars, Ahi Poke now operates at four locations, serving sustainable raw fish and rice dishes with flavours from across the Asia and the Middle East.
Butchies – The second location for the brand, Butchies will be serving its signature buttermilk fried chicken sandwiches and Buffalo hot wings. The brand prides itself on using higher welfare meat and sustainable ingredients.
Fanny’s Kebabs - from the team behind Fulham favourites Claude’s Deli and the Tommy Tucker pub, Fanny’s Kebabs will serve kebabs, unsurprisingly, including lamb; chicken; halloumi; and falafel, available in wraps, rice boxes and salads. Sides will include pittas; chicken wings; and fries.
Claude’s Deli - Ex-Club Gascon chef Claude Compton, who owns nearby Claude’s Kitchen, is extending his offering to open an all-day restaurant, ‘Claude’s Deli’, in the development. The menu will champion British produce, and will serve bread; pastries; charcuterie; salad bowls; sandwiches; soups; and tartines.
Yard Sale Pizza - Pizza restaurant Yard Sale has chosen Fulham Market Halls as the location to open its sixth site. Its double fermented dough earned the brand the ‘Most Loved Restaurant award in the Time Out Love London Awards.
Thima - Farang chef Seb Holmes will be cooking some dishes from Farang in Stoke Newington as well as some new and unseen dishes exclusive to Fulham.
Soft Serve Society - Inspired by Asia’s soft-serve ice cream parlours, Soft Serve Society will offer ice cream; bubble teas; and sundaes. Unusual flavours are to be expected, such as charcoal coconut.
