Breddos Tacos team launch slider-specialising spin-off
The Californian-inspired Pocho opened its first location at Street Feast’s Giant Robot earlier this month. It will open at Dinerama in Shoreditch on 4 April.
Pocho’s main point of difference to Breddos is that it offers a menu of sliders alongside its tacos. Flavours include the classic cheeseburger with aged beef patty, American cheese, lettuce, pickles, ketchup and mustard; the bacon cheeseburger; the jalapeno cheeseburger with butter braised jalapenos; and a veggie burger comprising a panko-crusted potato cake, cheddar, chipotle, lettuce and Pocho sauce.
As well as the sliders, Pocho will serve tostadas with toppings including spicy Hamachi ceviche with daikon coleslaw, avocado and peanut; and beetroot poké with miso, meyer lemon, queso fresco, mint and pecans.
Pocho will also serve a ‘Big Burger’, made with a double mustard fried patty, double cheese, braised onions, Pocho sauce and pickles.
The restaurants will serve a new menu of tacos, differing from those served at Breddos’ original restaurants. Toppings will include brisket barbacoa; Californian fried chicken with bread and butter pickles, mustard leaf, Kewpie-adobo mayo, ancho chile; confit pork belly with Vietnamese pickles, bird’s eye chile sambal, crispy shallot; and smoked cauliflower.
A selection of sides will include corn chips with guacamole; confit chicken wings; and Pocho fries with cheese sauce, brisket, sour cream, pickled chile and coriander.
Owners Nud Dudhia and Chris Whitney recently closed the Breddos site they operated in Nuno Mendes’ The Kitchens development in Old Spitalfields Market.
The duo now operate two permanent sites in Clerkenwell and Soho, as well as residencies at competitive socialising venue Swingers West End; and street food hub Feast Canteen in Hammersmith.
