The team, led by brothers Sam and James Hart and their business partner Crispin Somerville, will also launch its first crowdfunding campaign to raise £750,000 towards the opening of its fourth – and biggest - Barrafina yet.
The site will have 34 seats at the bar, a 60-cover terrace and a 20-cover private dining room.
Harts Group will launch the project on Crowdcube later this year, with minimum investments starting at £10.
Joining Barrafina at Coal Drops Yard will be the group’s new concept Casa Pastor, described as a 160-cover ‘Mexican big sister’ to their Borough Market restaurant El Pastor, alongside 79-cover wine bar The Drop.
“When we saw the site plans we immediately fell in love with Coal Drops and since then we have been relentlessly planning how to create amazing places specific to the area. We are progressing these with enthusiasm and look forward to opening in October,” says Sam Hart.
A former Victorian coal store, Coal Drops Yard was originally a series of warehouses built to handle the eight million tonnes of coal delivered to London each year.
The site has been redeveloped in to a restaurant and retail space featuring the surviving grand brick viaducts, ironwork and cobbled streets, which will open as a whole in autumn 2018.
