Fatto a Mano to open third restaurant in Brighton and Hove

Brighton and Hove-based restaurateur Rupert Davidson is to open a third Fatto a Mano pizzeria, this time in the heart of Brighton’s North Laine area.

Davidson has acquired the lease of the former Loot clothing store, a prominent site on the corner of Kensington Gardens and Gloucester Road.

He is already on site and expects to open late next month. The ground and basement restaurant will seat 50-covers plus a few more outside.

The location is the group’s busiest yet and puts it in close proximity to a number of national pizza players, not least Franco Manca, which is just one street away.

The first Fatto a Mano opened in Brighton’s London Road in 2015 and a second site opened in Hove in 2016.

The restaurant serves a tight menu of Neapolitan pizza made with high-quality ingredients and was recently named as one of the best places to eat in the city at the Brighton's Best awards.

“I’m a reluctant multi-site restaurateur. I only intended to open one pizzeria in Brighton and Hove. But I need to grow to give my great staff new opportunities or I’ll start losing them,” says Davidson, who also runs Brighton café Bread & Milk.

“I’ve had my eye on the Loot site for some time. I love the building and the area so when it came up I had to do it.”

Davidson says the self-funded business is likely to open a Fatto a Mano outside Brighton and Hove at some point, but that there are no immediate plans.
