A week after running out of chicken, KFC runs out of gravy
Chicken fans took to Twitter, to vent about the lack of the fast food chain’s popular gravy side order, which was unavailable at its restaurants across the UK.
"We're working as hard as we can to get this sorted out," said a KFC spokesperson.
"We know that our gravy is a big favourite!"
The reason for the shortage is believed to be the same as last week, when nearly 700 of KFC's UK outlets were closed last week after it switched suppliers from Bidvest to DHL.
Although most of KFC UK’s 900 outlets have now been reopened, the ongoing distribution problems mean some restaurants are serving a “reduced menu” (so, no gravy, and sometimes no chicken).
DHL blamed "operational issues" at a warehouse near Rugby it was using for deliveries nationwide.
The chain issued an apology in the for of a newspaper ad showing a photo of a chicken bucket with the KFC logo letters rearranged to read "FCK".
The accompanying text read: "WE'RE SORRY. A chicken restaurant without any chicken. It's not ideal... Thank you for bearing with us."
KFC released an advertising campaign on YouTube last month in which a mixologist crafts three cocktails that viewers can create at home, using the restaurant’s signature gravy.
