Bar Termini Centrale is hosting a two-month pasta pop-up

Tony Conigliaro’s Bar Termini Centrale is to play host to new pop-up Fat Tony’s ahead of the handmade pasta restaurant’s permanent debut in south London.

Launching at the Marylebone cocktail and coffee bar on 5 March, the residency’s kitchen will be headed up by chef James French.

The chef created the menu following travels around Italy and an apprenticeship at the Michelin-starred l’Erba del Re in Modena, Emilia-Romagna. He will launch his permanent site in south London this summer, and its location is yet to be announced.

Traditional Italian dishes will include starters of burrata with sea salt and olive oil; and panzanella, the famed Tuscan salad made with bread.

The pop-up will be open from Tuesday to Saturday, from midday until 9pm.

It will serve the likes of cacio e pepe; pappardelle with shin ragu; tagliarine with clams, samphire, chilli, garlic and stracchino; and ricotta and parmesan tortelloni with sage butter.

Dessert options will include the likes of grilled peaches with amaretto and crème fraiche.

Bar Termini Centrale is an Italian-inspired space, styled on Italy’s old railway cafes, so the residency will complement it well.

“A shared passion for old-school Italiana and a complementary aesthetic made this partnership a natural fit for us at Termini,” says Conigliaro.

“James has an excellent understanding and respect for his craft, not to mention a bloody delicious menu, and we’re looking forward to introducing Londoners to Fat Tony’s next month.”

Pasta restaurants are proving popular in the capital at the moment, and Fat Tony’s will join success stories including Padella and Pastaio.

Iconic Soho deli Lina Stores is also set to open a pasta restaurant this spring.
