London Union gets green light for Woolwich night market

London Union will open its next indoor night market in Woolwich next month after being given the green light for the project.

Its Public Woolwich Market, located on the former public market on Plumstead Road, is set to open on 1 March after its licence to operate was granted at a council meeting last night (6 February).

London Union, which is run by Jonathan Downey and Leon co-founder Henry Dimbleby and whose backers include Nigella Lawson, Gary Lineker and Giled Coren, announced in December that it would be heading to the London district of Woolwich providing it could get licensing and planning permission.

Writing on Twitter, Downey thanked the people who supported the project and announced the opening date of 1 March “which is, yikes, just over three weeks away. We had better get a move on and build it.”

The line up of food and drink traders is yet to be announced, but the company routinely works with traders that include Burger and Beyond, Chin Chin Labs, Hot Box, Mother Clucker and Prawnography.

The company currently operates four very popular street food operations in the capital, Giant Robot in Canary Wharf, Hawker House in Canada Water, Dinerama in Shoreditch and Model Market in Lewisham.
