BrewDog to open first airport bar in 2018
In a wide-ranging blog post the Scottish brewer and bar group said it has agreed its first airside location with a second in the pipeline, and hopes ‘more will follow’.
It comes in the same week Mexican chain Barburrito announced a partnership with Chiquito operator The Restaurant Group (TRG) that will see it expand in to UK airports.
“We love the fact that many US airports have small-scale brewery taps from local breweries for those who love craft beer – this coming year is when we give UK travellers a taste of what beer on the go should be like,” BrewDog wrote.
The group added that it is looking at updating its BrewDog app to allow guests to both order and pay for food and drinks at their table.
It also confirmed plans to open 20 new sites this year, including its first Hopworks brew-your-own beer facility in Glasgow, and debut bars in Paris and Seoul.
BrewDog increased the maximum target for its Equity for Punks crowdfunding campaign from £10m to £50m this month after raising more than £11.3m since it launched in October.
The brewer was founded in Fraserburgh, Scotland in 2007 and now runs more than 45 bars worldwide.
