The group has signed a lease on the art deco former Royal Bank of Scotland Hall to launch a 170-cover restaurant with a private dining space this July.
It will be the first Scottish site for Hawksmoor, which was launched by Will Beckett and Huw Gott in London's Spitalfields in 2006.
The group has since expanded to six sites in the capital and one in Manchester.
It was also set to cross the pond late last year after securing a 14,000 sq ft site at New York’s World Trade Centre development, but the restaurant opening has reportedly been delayed until 2019.
“We’re really excited about opening Hawksmoor in Edinburgh, not just because we’ll get to spend more time in such an amazing city, but because we’re going to be able to indulge in two things we love – produce and working with beautiful old buildings,” says Beckett.
“It’s no secret that Scotland has some of the world’s best ingredients, and we have an opportunity to bring life back to a building of national importance that’s been closed off to the public for the past ten years.”
Hawksmoor says further details of the opening will be announced closer to the launch.
