Simmons and co-founder Daniel Nathan have hit their £250,000 target on Seedrs and are looking to grow the business.
The team launched Beef & Brew in Kentish Town in 2015 in a bid to offer cheaper cuts of meat ‘without the fuss and price tag’, and the restaurant has since earned a recommendation in the Michelin Guide.
Nathan told BigHospitality they were currently negotiating on a second London site in an unconfirmed location after raising nearly £257,000.
The team believe the concept’s simple menu, which includes a £10 steak and chips for weekday lunch and early evenings, can be replicated in multiple sites without losing its quality.
Simmons, who cooked under Angela Hartnett at Murano and Whitechapel Gallery Dining Room, has created a menu offering a selection of cheaper cuts of meat under £20 and sides such as brisket jam nuggets and smoked pig’s cheek on toast.
The restaurant also offers beer to pair with different meats, a salt beef sandwich with beer cheese – a mix of beer, citrus powder and quality cheese – and beef, pork and ale sausage rolls.
Speaking to BigHospitality in 2015 Simmons said Beef & Brew was designed not to ‘break the bank’ and while there big plans for the business she wanted to avoid creating a ‘soulless chain’.
