A second Flesh & Buns is coming to Fitzrovia next year

Ramen restaurant group Bone Daddies is in talks to open a follow up to its steamed buns and Japanese drinking food restaurant Flesh & Buns.

The company, founded by former Nobu and Zuma chef Ross Shonhan, has applied to open a second Flesh & Buns in the new Copyright Building development on Berners Street, in Fitzrovia

Bone Daddies, which operates seven restaurants in the capital – five under the Bone Daddies ramen bar brand and one under the Shackfuyu name – opened Flesh & Buns in Covent Garden’s Seven Dials in 2013.

The izakaya-style restaurant serves a strong selection of snacks, sushi and small dishes, such as Korean fried chicken wings, tuna tostadas and soft shell crab. Its main attraction, however, is its steamed buns, that are filled by the diner with ingredients that include wagyu rump steak, crispy piglet belly, ox cheek, duck leg, salmon teriyaki and miso-grilled aubergine.

The group opened a Bone Daddies in James Street, near Selfridges on Oxford Street, earlier this year, and is still set to open a ramen bar at the Nova scheme in Victoria, although this has been delayed.

Shonhan is also working on creating a more premium Japanese steak restaurant, with Mayfair now believed to be the location.

The chef is understood to be looking at the former Starwash car wash and petrol filling station site to the rear of Berkeley Square House in Bruton Lane for the restaurant, which has the working title of Warayaki, according to BigHospitality’s sister website MCA.
