London's iteration of award winning restaurant Indian Accent is now open

The London outpost of award winning New Delhi restaurant Indian Accent opened today, on the former site of Chor Bizarre in Mayfair.

The two-storey restaurant, helmed by chef Manish Mehrotra, serves dinner daily and is open for lunch from Monday through Saturday.

At dinner, diners can choose from a nine-course chef’s tasting menu for £80, a three-course for £55, or a four-course for £65. Lunch menus comprise a two-course option for £25, a three-course for £30, a six course tasting menu for £45 and an a la carte menu.

Menu items include modern twists on Indian classic dishes, such as as soy keema, quail egg and lime leaf butter pao; and kashmiri morels, walnut powder, parmesan papad.

More unusual Indian dishes are also on the menu, such as makhan malai, (a medieval dish made of aerated milk infused with saffron); and ghee roast lamb with roomali roti pancakes- an Indian twist on Peking duck.

Classic British ingredients also appear in dishes, including black pudding, stuffed inside kulcha flatbreads.

The cocktail selection comprises favourites from the brand’s New York outpost as well as new items created exclusively for London. Albemarle Chai Punch is a house-made milk punch featuring Batavia Arrack, Earl Grey, and Virgin Amaro. The restaurant also carries a large selection of rare whiskies, available to order as a flight, alongside wine pairings.

Indian Accent currently has restaurants in New Delhi and New York. The original restaurant in India is one of the highest rated places to eat in the subcontinent. It is currently the only Indian restaurant in India to feature on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list (number 78 on the 51-100 list) and has been named the best restaurant in India by Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants for three years running.

Manish Mehrotra spoke to Restaurant ahead of the launch.
