Jack Solomons Club will open on 1 December underneath the group’s huge new site on Great Windmill Street, seating 150 covers with space for 240 standing.
The bar will specialise in whisky-based cocktails, served alongside a menu of bar snacks including crab croquettes; hot smoked trout with horseradish; and ‘Rocky’s fish and chips’ (in homage to the bar’s namesake, who had an early spell as a fishmonger).
Cocktails, starting from £12, will include the likes of a ‘Nipper Morris’, made with Glenfiddich 12 year, plum syrup, lemon juice and egg white; ‘Black Jack’, (Laphroaig, maraschino liqueur and lime juice); and ‘Old Guard’, which will mix Woodford reserve bourbon, bitters and apricot brandy.
Although the bar is owned by and housed within the same site as Sophie’s Steakhouse it is accessed via its own after-hours street-side deli entrance.
When Sophie’s opens on 28 November, it will once again become a two-site steakhouse.
The opening follows the closure of Sophie’s in Covent Garden, which shut its doors in June this year after nearly nine years’ trading.
Owners Sophie Bathgate and Rupert Power say the new Soho restaurant, the group’s biggest so far, will mark an evolution of the 15 year old steakhouse brand.
