The Palomar team to bring counter dining to relaunched Soho pub The Blue Posts

The team behind London restaurants The Palomar and The Barbary is reopening Soho stalwart The Blue Posts on Rupert Street next month.

The ground floor of the building, which has been the location of a pub for over 275 years, will remain a public house and will serve a bar food menu alongside drinks when the space reopens on 5 December.

The new site will have, however, have a greater food focus than before, with the pub’s beer cellar being lowered to create Evelyn’s Table, a single kitchen counter that will seat around 11 diners.

The space is described as being ‘informal, energetic and intimate’, with dishes being passed from the range straight to the guest, and will only be bookable in advance.

The first floor of the building has also been refurbished and will house The Mulwray, a cocktail bar that will feature a wood burning stove as well as soft pink furnishings, Connemara marble and satin brass details.

Nacho Pinilla, executive chef of The Barbary, will create a daily changing menu for Evelyn’s Table, as well as a bar menu for the ground floor and also for the upstairs cocktail bar. The food will be modern European, but no more details on the menu are yet available.

The move follows the opening of English coffee house Jacob the Angel, which the team opened in the summer. Located in Neal’s Yard in London’s Seven Dials, the bijou operation - located next The Barbary - serves a daily changing selection of freshly baked cakes, pastries and pies and well as sandwiches and salads.
