'Michelin star' delivery service launches crowdfunding campaign

London delivery service Supper, which only transports food from “top quality and Michelin starred” restaurants, is crowdfunding to further expand its premium business.

The company is looking to raise £500,000 to boost development and marketing activities. Its crowdfunding campaign is hosted on website Crowdcube.

In return for financial pledges, investors can obtain rewards by the way of free delivery for various periods of time, and free meals from restaurants working with Supper (for example, the reward for a £10,000 pledge includes five free pizzas from Homeslice).

A £100,000 pledge gets the investor the use of one of the company’s bikes and driver for two days to “run your errands”.

Until recently, Supper has only been using eight custom-built delivery bikes, which it has used to serve around 7000 customers, delivering 12,000 orders (with each order being around £57 on average) to Zone-1 locations.

After receiving investment of £300,000 earlier this year from the owners of the Barworks group, who own The Diner and The Electricity Showrooms, the company purchased a further 20 of its custom temperature controlled bikes. These will be modified to have LCD screens built into the sides, creating a revenue stream from advertising.

The rest of the funds will be used to increase the brand’s core, team, in particular in the tech and development department, and on marketing.

This will be Supper’s third revenue stream, after commission fees from restaurants and delivery charges from customers.

This year Supper increased its offering and expanded to encompass quality casual venues, acknowledging the high standard of mid-market restaurants in London, to increase customer base.

Restaurants working with Supper include Michelin starred Indian restaurants Tamarind, Tamarind Kitchen, Homeslice, Mac & Wild, The Kitchens at Spitalfields, Caviar House, Kurobuta, L’Anima.

"This is a crucial milestone for us," says says founder and CEO Peter Georgiou "and the result will be instrumental in how SUPPER continues from here".
