O’Neill replaces Gavin Edney, who has left the 68-seat Berkshire fine dining restaurant to head up the Elder restaurant and Woodsman grill (also in Berkshire).
A Roux Scholarship winner, O’Neill’s CV includes Berwick Lodge Hotel’s Hattusa Restaurant in Bristol; Ashdown Park Hotel in East Sussex; and The Ostrich in Colnbrook, Berkshire.
Following winning the Roux Scholarship in 2013, O’Neill completed a three-month stage at Pierre Gagnaire’s Paris restaurant. The next year, he was a finalist in the National Chef of the Year cooking competition.
He has also been involved in a number of people development initiatives within the industry, including the launch of the Chefs’ Forum Academy at both Weston College in Weston-Super-Mare and Gloucestershire College.
O’Neill will join the team at André Garrett at Cliveden in mid-November 2017.
Former head chef at the Michelin-starred London restaurant Galvin at Windows, André Garrett took over Cliveden House in late 2013 and has attracted numerous accolades for his classical French cooking, including an 8/10 rating in the 2018 Waitrose Good Food Guide and three AA rosettes in the AA Restaurant Guide 2018.
