New World Trading (NWTC) is to open the second venue of its The Florist bar and restaurant brand next year – even though it is yet to launch the first site.

The company has taken on the former Royal School for the Blind in Liverpool, a 1850s Grade 2 listed building which was most recently operated by New Moon Co as Old Blind School.

New Moon Company went into liquidation last year owing more than £4m in debts, according to Companies House documents.

The Florist's offer will focus on NWTC's staple range of cocktails and world beers and will serve a food menu that is likely to include deli, rotisserie and grill dishes. It will join the group's Smuggler's Cove and Club House brands that it already operates in Liverpool.

The Florist concept is set to debut in Bristol early next year when it opens in Goldbrick House. The 1800s Grade-II listed building is being converted into a 200-capacity venue.

NWTC announced last week that it had grown sales 33% in the year to 31 March to £40.1m. The group, which opened its 20th outlet this week in West Bridgford, increased adjusted operating profit 41% to £5.1m.

The group currently operates 18 sites, including five launched in the past year, and has a further four due to open by 2018,
