Pied à Terre bans swearing in the kitchen

New head chef Asimakis Chaniotis has outlawed obscenities in the once notoriously aggressive kitchen of the Fitzrovia restaurant. The chef told BigHospitality that the industry was changing and banning swearing was one 'small but important step' to making kitchens a more 'nurturing' workplace.

HKK closes for good

Hakkasan Group closed its Michelin-starred City restaurant on Tuesday with immediate effect. Executive chef Tong Chee Hwee says the group is shifting its priorities to focus on global projects in Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and Europe.

Gordon Ramsay thinks Brexit will 'shake Britain out of its laziness'

The typically outspoken chef believes exiting the European Union could have a positive effect on the restaurant industry and that a curb on migrant labour will give homegrown talent a chance to shine. "If anything, it's a big kick up the a**e for the industry," he told The Radio Times. 

Vineet Bhatia announces shock closure of Chelsea restaurant

The chef confirmed the sudden closure of his flagship site just one week after winning a Michelin star. The restaurant is understood to be relocating after 13 years, with Bhatia writing on Twitter that it needed 'a fresh start'

Robin Gill closes Paradise Garage with plans for new venture

The chef has closed his critically-acclaimed Bethnal Green restaurant ahead of plans to launch his first city centre project next year. Gill told BigHospitality the restaurant was a 'successful failure' and the team had decided to focus their energy on other ventures.
