Danish based Bæst and Mirabelle topped the list of winners at the 2017 Food Made Good Awards

Denmark's Bæst restaurant and its sister bakery Mirabelle have been named the Food Made Good Business of the Year at the Sustainable Restaurant Association’s 2017 Food Made Good Awards.

The awards  - which are UK centric but also honour some international establishments - were presented by Raymond Blanc and SRA president Prue Leith, at a ceremony on 5 October at London’s Royal Horticultural Society’s Lindley Hall.

Christian Puglisi's Copenhagen Italian-inspired restaurant is certified organic and sources much of its fresh produce from its own farm.

Bæst and Mirabelle follows in the footsteps of their Michelin-starred sister restaurant Relæ, which won the Food Made Good International Restaurant award in 2016 as well as the Sustainable Restaurant award at The World’s 50 Best Restaurants in the same year.

“Food and its production touches every part of our lives; it will define the society and communities of tomorrow, as well as our health and the health of the planet,” says Raymond Blanc.

“Each and every one of the winners have demonstrated food’s huge potential as a force for good. I am honoured to play some part in rewarding their significant achievements.”

British restaurants following closely behind Bæst and Mirabelle included, Daylesford, Edinburgh bistro Cafe St Honoré, Bristol tapas restaurant Poco and The Shed in west London.

Jamie’s Italian new kids’ menu that includes at least two portions of veg on every plate was the winning formula for the Feed People Well award.

Chris’s Fish ‘n’ Chips, in Leicestershire won the new Good To Go award, whilst Nando’s won the Open Right award, which is also new, for its new Cambridge restaurant.
