The revamped market will have a new layout and 34 custom built kiosks for the traders.
There will be five new traders, including Spice Box (plant based Indian dishes such as jackfruit tikka masala, or sweet potato and summer greens peanut curry); Only Jerkin’ (Jamaican jerk with a twist, with dishes such as ginger-beer batter fried chicken); Wei Wei’s (Taiwanese wheel cakes); Bapitta; and The Big Cheese.
The likes of The Cheese Wheel (freshly rolled pasta tossed in a wheel of cheese); Oli Baba’s (Instagram-famous deep-fried chips of halloumi) ; Club Mexicana (vegan Mexican-inspired tacos and nachos); Stakehaus (upmarket steak and chips); and market favourite The Grillin’ Greek (traditional Greek souvlakis and triple-cooked chips) are still amongst the lineup of traders in the market.
The market’s makeover was funded by Camden Market. The market was last remodelled in spring 2016 when it was acquired by the KERB group.
KERB Camden is open 364 days a year, and is one of six KERB markets across London. It was voted one of Time Out’s top restaurant openings of 2016.
Despite a fire breaking out in the market in July, trade continued throughout summer and into autumn, feeding around 1.5M people.
Ian Dodds, head of KERB markets describes the refurbished market as “a truer vision of our intentions for the site and another big step forward for London street food.”
The re-opening of the market coincides with KERB’s 5th birthday, which the brand is celebrating on 20 and 21 October at King's Cross
