Romy Gill brings female-led fundraising feast to Borough Market
Organised by Romy Gill, and hosted by Mina Holland of the Guardian, the event will consist of a supper, prepared by 11 of the UK’s leading female chefs, on 4 October at London’s Borough Market. It is set to be a “true showcase for local produce, female culinary talents, and the joy of sharing food,” says the organiser.
The event’s purpose, as well as creating a platform for female talent in the industry, is to raise funds for Action Against Hunger, a global humanitarian organisation committed to ending world hunger.
The event includes a fizz and canapé reception followed by a meal of eight separate sharing dishes. There will also be a bar service from Vino Beano on the night, should guests wish to purchase any additional drinks, and a raffle presented by Kate Hamilton of Suitcase Magazine.
Tickets cost £90 plus a booking fee.
“I am very happy to continue supporting Action Against Hunger, as I wanted to raise awareness of the incredible work that the charity does across the world” says Romy Gill.
“I also thought this would be a great opportunity to unite women in the industry and what can be a more exciting way of doing that than through cooking a feast together.”
Cooking on the night will be:
Zoe Adjonyoh (owner of Zoe’s Ghana Kitchen)
Rosie Birkett (food writer, stylist and author)
Xanthe Clay (food writer)
Natasha Corrett (cookery book writer and one of the UK’s top vegetarian chefs)
Elly Curshen (owner of Bristol’s Pear Café)
Maria Elia (author and chef)
Romy Gill (chef and owner of Romy’s Kitchen)
Olia Hercules (chef, stylist and food writer)
Chetna Makan (food writer and Great British Bake Off contestant)
