Sushi Tetsu tops 2017’s Ultimate London Restaurant List

Sushi restaurant Sushi Tetsu has taken the top spot in All In London’s annual Ultimate Restaurant List

The tiny seven-seater restaurant in Clerkenwell has knocked Restaurant Gordon Ramsay off the top of the list of 100 London restaurants.

The second spot was taken by Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, in Chelsea - last year’s winner - while The Ledbury in Notting Hill, previously a four-time winner, was ranked at number three.

Fifteen new entries in total have entered the top 100, including seasonal British champion Clipstone in Fitzrovia (number 16); Pidgin in Hackney (number 24); and Italian restaurant Padella (number 33) in Borough Market.

The list of restaurants is compiled using a mathematical algorithm based on the results of other restaurant awards and ratings from the past 12 months and provides a ‘definitive, impartial list of London’s best restaurants’, according to the All in London website.

Of the 100 restaurants in the list, Sushi Tetsu is one of just two –the other being Pitt Cue, at number four- to not hold at least one Michelin star.

“Sushi Tetsu’s win really displays what a level playing field London’s restaurant scene is now; small establishments stand as much chance of seeing success as the better-established, multi-venue enterprises,” says Paul Carter of All In London.co.uk. “It’s heartening to see that the cream still rises to the top."
