Buca Di Pizza to open in Hull's Fruit Market

Northern pizzeria brand Buca Di Pizza is joining the line up of restaurants at Hull’s waterside Fruit Market, which is currently being regenerated.

Owned by brothers Geoff and Nick Thornton, the 1,900 sq ft site will have 80 covers inside and 20 outside. The £175,000 investment in the restaurant will create 15 full and part time jobs.

Buca Di Pizza is the latest in a flurry of recent investments into the Fruit Market, including its £300,000 flagship Ambiente Tapas as well as Butler Whites and Tapasya @ Marina

This investment in the Fruit Market forms part of an £80 million transformation by Wykeland Group and residential developer Beal Homes, which have formed joint venture company Wykeland Beal in partnership with Hull City Council. The city’s first “urban village” includes refurbished commercial, retail and leisure space, and construction will soon start on a development of 101 homes.

“The Fruit Market area is unique – it has such an interesting and very European feel. The developers, Wykeland Beal, have a very clear vision and there’s new retail, galleries and more new venues opening all the time” says the restaurant’s co-owner, Geoff Thornton “It’s a great place to visit during the day and in the evening and we’re very excited about becoming part of it”

The brothers recently announced that they would open two new restaurants - a Buca Di Pizza and smokehouse and sports bar concept FirePit - at East Yorkshire’ Flemingate shopping centre.
